Do I need to turn spoofing on again after restarting the phone?

No. If spoofing was active when the phone was turned off, the app restores it automatically when the system boots — you do not need to open the app.

No. An active mock location is restored automatically when the phone boots, and the app subscribes to the earliest system boot event — the one that arrives even before the screen is unlocked.

This matters on a phone with a PIN or fingerprint. The regular boot events are sent only after the first unlock, so spoofing would not return until you picked up the phone. A measurement on a real HyperOS device showed the difference clearly: the early queue reaches the app in about a second, the regular one in seventeen, because the system updater, the manufacturer's cloud services and banking apps are ahead in the queue.

Exactly the state before shutdown is restored: the same point and the same mode. If spoofing was stopped, it will not turn on by itself after a reboot — this is deliberate, not a flaw: the phone should not start reporting someone else's coordinates without your knowledge.

The only thing that prevents automatic restoration is the firmware forbidding the app to start in the background. The restore mechanism lives inside the app, and if the system does not let it start, there is nothing to run it. On Xiaomi this is controlled by autostart, on Huawei by “secondary launch” in the app launch settings, on Samsung by excluding the app from sleeping apps. The paths are covered in the guides for Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei.

There is a second condition that is easy to forget: the location permission set to “Allow all the time”. Without it, the system will not let the app use location in the background right after boot, and restoration is postponed until you open the app.

The easiest way to check that everything worked is the shade: after a reboot the persistent notification should appear on its own, without your involvement.
