Renaming is a Premium feature. In the app, long-press a place's name to edit it and confirm with the check mark; long-press the icon on the left to change it. On the website, click the name.
A name and an icon help tell apart points that are close to each other: “Office” and “Warehouse” on neighboring streets cannot be distinguished by coordinates alone.
If you are signed in, the rename goes to the server right away and appears on the website — and vice versa. Rows marked with a dimmed icon cannot be edited: they are over your plan's limit.
