How does the RuStore version differ from the APK on the website?

The location spoofing features are the same. There is one difference: the website version can download and install updates itself, while the RuStore version is updated only through RuStore — those are its rules.

The RuStore build physically does not contain the self-update code rather than having it switched off by a setting: the store forbids published apps from downloading and installing APKs on their own, bypassing the store, so this build does not request the corresponding permission at all.

The two builds have different signatures, and this has a practical consequence: Android will not let you install one over the other — the system refuses with an incompatible update error. To switch from the RuStore version to the website version or back, uninstall the app first. Your places and history will not be lost if you are signed in: they are restored from sync after you sign in.

Which to choose: RuStore is more convenient if you want updates to arrive the usual way along with your other apps. The website version updates faster — a new build is available right after it is published, without waiting for store review.
