GPS realism: accuracy, jitter and altitude of the mocked point
A real GPS is never perfectly still: the coordinate drifts slightly, the accuracy changes, the heading wobbles. That is why Mock Location behaves the same way by default — in other apps the point jitters slightly and, on the move, drifts a meter or two off the route line. For some tasks this is a plus, for others a nuisance: testing a geofence needs a point that stays exactly in place. The “GPS realism” section lets you choose what the point is like.
Open “GPS realism”
The gear in the bottom-right corner of the map → “GPS realism”. The section is a Premium feature: without a subscription it opens, the top shows what it offers, and the settings are dimmed. Changes apply immediately, including to spoofing that is already on.
Choose a ready-made profile
“Perfect accuracy” — the point stands still and moves exactly along the line: for geofences, trackers and automated tests. “Like a real GPS” — the default, slight jitter and a lively heading. “Weak signal” — the point drifts more noticeably and leaves the line, like among tall buildings. “Battery saver” — updates once a second, everything else like a real GPS.
Fine-tune the point standing still
“Point jitter” — from “Off” (the point stays perfectly still) to “High” (up to 5 m around the point). “Reported accuracy” — “Very high” (0.6–1.4 m) or “High” (1–2.5 m). Worse than 2.5 m cannot be selected: with a large error, Google services on the phone start mixing in the real location.
Set a custom altitude if needed
Turn on “Custom altitude above sea level” and enter a number or change it with the “−” and “+” buttons in steps of 10 m. Without a custom altitude the app reports 115 m — implausible for mountains and high floors. The altitude from a GPX file takes priority: if the track has it, it is used.
Set up movement along a route
“Drift from the route line” — from “Off” (the point stays exactly on the line) to “High” (up to 4 m aside); “Normal” is 1–2 m, smoothly, without jumps. “Heading jitter” — from a direction that follows the road exactly to a noticeable 4-degree wobble. The rest — speed, “Natural movement”, “City GPS accuracy” — is set in the route itself.
Choose the update rate
“4 times/s” — the smoothest movement (the default), “2 times/s” — less load, “Once/s” — like most phones, with less battery drain on long trips. How far the point drifts from the line does not depend on the rate. If parameters are changed manually, “Custom profile” appears next to the profiles and “Reset to defaults” at the bottom.
What other apps see
All the parameters change only the data that Mock Location passes to the system as the location: the coordinate, accuracy, altitude, heading and rate. The map in Mock Location itself draws the point steadily, without jitter. These settings do not change the mock-source flag, the step count or the phone's sensors — services that check them see the spoofing with any profile (why).
Without Premium
The “Like a real GPS” default applies — exactly the behavior the app has always had. Settings chosen with Premium are not erased and come back with the subscription.
